Met at his bedroom door (level 1) | 18/09/2020 Poor Bay Breeze has had a lot 'riding' on her, starting the very second she hatched in the custody of Emet-Selch seven days into the uncordial breakup of his relationship with Dirk Strider. Her first impression of another living thing was peering into the mind of a man who desperately wanted Dirk back, who wanted Dirk to love him. This formed her first impression of Dirk. Dirk, who was not ready to even see Emet again, was not happy to be delivered this fragile, adorable creature he wanted desperately to love him (while he did not want Emet to love him, nor did he want to feel anything even resembling 'love' for Emet himself.) This turned into a whole Thing where she was barely hours old and suddenly carrying the extremely heavy load of her two dads' entire relationship and their histories and also she had just been exposed to Dirk "I Am My Ultimate Self" Strider. Even the process of naming her was an ordeal, as Dirk's intention to name her after the most fitting My Little Pony figure clashed with his thematic aversion to the ocean. Ultimately pedantry won, but it's all just been an awful lot for an hours-old baby to take on, as burdens go.
